How to Maintain the Wearing Parts of the Fiber Laser Cutter?

Fiber laser cutting machine cannot work normally once one of its parts is damaged or missing, even a small part. If used forcibly, it may cause irreversible damage to the fiber laser cutting machine. Therefore, for those wearing parts that need to be replaced frequently, we generally make an advance stocking. So what are the more common wearing parts? And how to take care of them?

Wearing Parts

The wearing parts of fiber laser cutting machine are mainly divided into two parts: optical components and cutting head wearing parts. The consumable parts of optical components mainly include protective lenses. While the cutting head wearing parts mainly include nozzles, ceramic bodies, ceramic rings, sealing rings, sensor cables, etc. Below I will briefly introduce some common wearing parts.

1. Protective lenses

The protective lens is also one of the frequently wearing parts of the fiber laser cutting machine, as shown in figure 7. It is mainly used to block the splash of cutting debris and prevent damage to the core components of the laser cutting head. And it is recommended to replace every 3 months. The specific replacement frequency needs to be determined according to the usage of the fiber laser cutting machine.

2. Nozzle

A cutting nozzle (shown in figure 8 ) can assist the rapid ejection of the cutting gas. Moreover, it can also effectively prevent the damage to the protective focusing lens group caused by the anti-slag on the cutting plate. At the same time, the cutting nozzle can also effectively control the gas diffusion area and size, so as to control the cutting quality of the fiber laser cutting machine. The replacement cycle of the cutting nozzle is generally recommended to be about 2 months. But since the cutting nozzle is very close to the plate, often results in damage to the nozzle ceramic body of the nozzle machine. Therefore, the cutting nozzle can be said to be the most frequently replaced wearing part of the fiber laser cutting machine.

3. TTW cable

The TTW cable is the sensing wire of the cutting head sensor, as shown in Figure 9. It locates above the ceramic ring and under the protective lens box. Its main function is to transmit signals from the ceramic ring to the amplifier. In addition, its replacement cycle is generally about one year.

4. Ceramic ring

The ceramic ring is a component of the laser cutting head, located above the nozzle and below the sensor (shown in Figure 7). It is mainly responsible for transmitting and collecting the cutting signal emitted by the nozzle, to prevent the nozzle from colliding with the plate during operation. Besides, it also has the functions of high temperature resistance and anti-deformation. When cutting, it is easy to crack the ceramic body due to the collision of the laser head, or due to the excessive heating of the ceramic body. The following two phenomena show the ceramic ring is damaged: there is a problem with cutting (the cutting and perforation fails) or the system display shows an error.

Why is it easy to damage?

1.Operation mistakes

There are many operators who have not undergone formal training or are unfamiliar with fiber laser cutters. It is inevitable that some mistakes will occur during operation, so that the wearing parts are consumed too quickly.

2.Inaccurate cutting parameters

The fiber laser cutting machine can cut different materials through different parameters. However, in many cases, due to the inaccurate parameters set, the cutting difficulty increases and the wearing parts are consumed too fast.

3.Long use time

If the fiber laser cutting machine is used for too long or used frequently, it is easy to cause the aging of the equipment, which will also greatly reduce the service life of the wearing parts.

4.Frequent cutting of highly reflective metal materials

Because the highly reflective metal material has a very low absorption to the laser, it will cause great damage to the lens and the laser.

How to maintain the wearing parts?

1.Protective lenses

①Do not use too much force during installation and avoid collision with hard objects.
②Operate with gloves and provide it with dry and oil-free air.
③Before and after use or cleaning, it is necessary to check the lens.
④Use clean wipes and optical solvents to prevent damage by other contaminants.

2. Nozzle

First of all, it should be standardized when assembling. At the same time, the molten stains on the nozzle should be removed immediately. Finally, check and replace the nozzle of the cutter regularly.
